Hello and Welcome, clients, new and old friends, family, and visitors! My name is Kelly Ford, and I am the owner of Symmetry Within, LLC, a company founded in 2011, and based in Wyoming, Pennsylvania. I would like to thank you for visiting the company website.
Here is My Story...
I have been a licensed Physical Therapist for over 15 years, and more recently, I am following my passion to include Functional Health Coaching and Wellness services to my offerings as a Certified Health Coach and Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. I support busy individuals in finding simple ways to make better food and lifestyle choices to feel better inside and out, address their personal Wellness goals, and to create the life of their dreams.
Up until about 5 years ago, I was living a life common to many American professionals, working a stressful 50-60 hour week regularly and struggling to find time for nutritious meals, exercise, a good night's sleep, or the things in my life that really matter to me. I have experienced first hand the effects of this lifestyle on my body, mood, and emotions, as well as it's impact on all other areas of my life. Without even realizing, as most people don't, I was asking more and more of my body and myself, yet not giving my body or myself the basic resources needed to function optimally.
Far too many people live this way, everyday, then wonder why they do not feel well, are overly stressed, feel run down, gain weight or can't lose it, or, even get sick. I am fortunate in that my life circumstances steered me in a different direction. I was able to slow down, take a step back, and really see what was happening. What I have learned and continue to learn through my own personal experiences, as well as my education and coaching experience, is that a few simple changes can make all the difference in how you feel, physically and emotionally. My goal now is to share what I have learned with others, so they too, can transform their lives.
I received my Health Coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition® based in New York City and my certification as Health Coach from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). I have also completed coursework in nutrition through the University of California, and ongoing continuing education coursework in advanced Health Coaching topics and supportive Wellness techniques. My training has equipped me with extensive knowledge in health coaching, food coaching for healthy eating practices, lifestyle modification, and the importance of preventive care.
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Beaver College, currently known as Arcadia University, which is located in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Since finishing my graduate studies, I have practiced as a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Pennsylvania in a variety of Rehabilitation settings. Combined with my extensive training and ongoing continuing education, over fifteen years of experience in the field of Physical Therapy has given me expertise in the areas of fitness, rehabilitation, program development, prevention, disease management, and client education.
What is Health Coaching?
My version of health coaching is very simple. It starts with a Wellness Consultation, during which the client and I discuss the client's goals, concerns, and history, as well as other details that may be impacting the client's life. This gives us a chance to get to know each other a little bit and, if we feel we would be a good team, move forward with the most appropriate program. There are several program options currently offered, short and long term, which are all discussed in detail at the conclusion of the Wellness consultation.
For the duration of the health coaching program, I support my clients in discovering and understanding the potential root causes and/or underlying factors that may be contributing to their concerns. We then look at the role of the food and lifestyle choices the client makes regularly. Based on each client's individual needs, goals, lifestyle, and preferences, together, we will find solutions to maximize the things that are missing. Typically, these things will be important to help the client's body function more optimally, so we find simple and enjoyable ways to fit those things into the client's life. Along the way, we will address any barriers that arise or have been preventing success in the past. Since these may serve as obstacles to progress, we typically attempt to reduce or eliminate them if possible. I suggest simple ways to help clients to get "unstuck," and create an environment conducive to them moving forward to feel better. Sounds easy, right?
Next, and perhaps, most important to the success of this (or any) program...You! You (the client) must try. We will go over many ways that you can improve your Wellness, all tailored to your specific needs. But, if you don't try them, how can they work? Try to implement some of the recommendations into your life. Consistently. Everyday. One small step at a time. I am not perfect, and don't expect anyone else to be. But, wellness is not about perfection, it's all about consistency. Even if you make a bad choice or several bad choices, learn from them and move on. Don't let one bad choice, day, or week sabotage your motivation or your goals. Learn to be more positive, and find the positive in all. Be honest with yourself. Keep moving forward, and soon, you will see results. Sometimes it takes time. And, it definitely takes perseverance. Every body is different, what works for one person may not work for another. The key is to just keep trying and stay focused doing things to improve your wellness, everyday.

If you are looking for a "magic pill," a "quick fix," or someone else to do this for you, this program is not for you.
You will get out of this program what you put in to it. No amount of support or information I give you can make you do (or not do) something that you truly want to do. Remember, the most important part of this program is...YOU!!
